Celebrating National Volunteer Month at SSA & Company
We encourage our team to find meaningful ways to support and improve our communities. In recognition of #NationalVolunteerMonth we are celebrating some of the unique and impactful organizations that our teams passionately support. Read their stories below.
Bonnie volunteered at Animal Haven, an NYC-based non-profit animal shelter. Animal Haven finds homes for abandoned cats and dogs throughout the Tri-State area and provides behavior intervention when needed to improve chances of adoption. Bonnie worked directly with the animals in need – cleaning the shelter and walking dogs. Learn more about Animal Haven here.
Tricia volunteers as a Board Member at the Wainwright House in Rye, NY, the oldest non-sectarian holistic learning center in the US. She also partnered with the Head of Social Emotional Learning in her local school district and ran two meditation workshops for its teachers, and for Juniors & Seniors in the High School “Institute” program. Fueling a courageous national movement to eradicate relational and financial poverty, Cara engages job seekers, employers, and other organizations across the country to break the cycle of poverty through the power and purpose of employment. Tanner’s involvement with Cara’s Associate Board gives him the opportunity to work directly with community members seeking a more stable pathway, as well as facilitate partnerships across the community that can help further Cara’s mission. Jonathan is a Board member and active Champion for ZERO Prostate Cancer, an organization his father helped found in 1996 after being diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer. Dan is the Co-Founder of Big Slo Running, a non-profit that produces running events with proceeds supporting charities in his local community and his mission work focused on providing Bio-Sand water filters to communities in Haiti. Andrew serves on the Associate Board of The Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, an organization that focuses on patient care, education, and research in physical medicine and rehabilitation.
