Amazon Helped Crush Department Stores. Now it Reportedly Wants to Be One

Amazon has plans to open new storefronts despite successfully upending the traditional brick-and-mortar model. Managing Partner Matt Katz was quoted in CNN Business about the impact of Amazon’s investment in physical locations on its distribution and delivery strategy.

Matt looks at how Amazon’s investment in brick-and-mortar will do more than provide additional touchpoints for consumers, “These locations will function as last-mile distribution hubs in highly populated urban areas, where distribution centers are not located. This is an advantage for same day, even same-hour delivery.”
