CASE STUDY
Optimized Network and Capacity Planning to Realize Improvement for Manufacturer
Challenge
A private equity-owned manufacturer of absorbent products was facing significant production issues despite state-of-the-art equipment. The company needed to optimize asset performance across the four-plant network to meet customer demand on-time-in-full (OTIF).
Approach
The SSA & Company team conducted network optimization and capacity planning across four plants to achieve highest efficiency production runs on primary equipment. We reset minimum/maximum levels for raw materials and finished goods, reduced raw material levels and freed up working capital through constant supply replenishment from vendors, implemented a 12-month forecasting process involving a master scheduler and sales team, and consolidated orders to create longer, more efficient production runs.
Results
Increased production capacity
EBITDA improvement at primary production facility
Reduced OT spend through an optimized schedule
