Celebrating International Women’s Day 2025

To celebrate International Women’s Day, we asked the women of SSA & Company to share what brings them fulfillment beyond their careers and how it shapes them as leaders, colleagues, and mentors. Their insights highlight the diverse passions, commitments, and values that drive them—both inside and outside the workplace. Read their perspectives below:

Lavanya Agarwal: “I really find it fulfilling to help others grow and solve problems by being a sounding board for them, making a positive impact on their lives. At work, this sense of fulfillment pushes me to listen actively and view challenges as opportunities to evolve and learn!”

Lindsey Choate: “Outside of work, I find reading extremely fulfilling. It enables me to expand my knowledge, sparks my imagination, and provides an escape into different worlds and perspectives.”

Melanie Goldsmith: “When my one-year-old is focused—tending to her stuffed animals, flipping through a book, or making a spectacular mess—the instinct is to step in, correct, tidy up. But I’ve realized that disruption breaks momentum, and overcorrection kills curiosity. My new approach? Provide structure with minimal interference. Create an environment that fosters curiosity, then step back. Letting my daughter navigate her own discoveries has redefined patience for me—and reminded me that the best way to support growth is to meet people where they are.”

Casey Haynes: “I teach Pilates classes in my spare time. Not only do I love engaging with my community in a different way, but the mind-body connection that I build through fitness helps me show up to work energized and fulfilled.”

Tricia Madden: “My 11-year-old is an aspiring artist, so we try to visit art museums when we have the chance, and I always find inspiration in these visits. On a recent trip to the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, MA I was reminded that leadership is much like art – seeing the world in new ways and inspiring others to see it too. My daughter was drawn to a portrait of Ruby Bridges in their Anita Kunz exhibit ‘Original Sisters Portraits in Tenacity and Courage.’ On the ride home we talked about her example of courage and bravery. I love finding new and unexpected inspiration when exploring art museums.”

Amanda Palamar: “I am always on the lookout for a way to bridge connections with or among those who surround me. Feeling belonging and openness can be crucial to one’s ability to thrive – so I make a point to bring an energy each day that encourages authentic selves and compassionate community.”

Kathy Pangier: “Mentoring Division 1 female athletes is a mutually rewarding experience that allows me to foster growth and build confidence in future leaders, while also reflecting on my own journey to strengthen my leadership skills.”

Dena Tenteromano: “Spending time with my two daughters and helping develop them into confident, resilient leaders is one of my greatest sources of fulfillment. Guiding them through challenges, encouraging their growth, and leading by example has strengthened my patience, adaptability, and ability to collaborate with others.”

Hannah Valencia: “Learning new sports—whether it’s skiing, padel, soccer, or ice skating—pushes me outside my comfort zone and reminds me that growth comes from embracing challenges and perseverance. That same mindset helps me stay adaptable and open to tackling new opportunities at work.”
